With 35 years of doing business behind it and 5 branches in Lombardy and Piedmont, RAR Srl (an Italian acronym that stands for Spare parts, Trucks, Trailers) is one of northern Italy’s most important firms in the commercial vehicle spare parts trade. Indeed, its range of action extends all the way to Liguria. The company was founded in 1979 by Giuseppe Picciolo and two other partners who helped him pilot the company through its early years until the end of the 1980s when Picciolo remained alone at the helm of RAR. That was when his son Edoardo (now sales manager) joined the company, followed a few years later by his brother Silvio, Head of Logistics and, since 2006, his sister Laura, now head of administration.

It was then that the company, though still small, began to set itself ambitious expansion goals. Aspects such as goods delivery, the quality of the marketed brands (which has always been the firm’s strong point), major investments in stock and the recruitment of skilled, qualified personnel have, over the years, allowed the company to grow and relocate to a new site that, although still in Nova Milanese, is three times larger than the previous one. “Meticulous attention to problem-solving has, among other factors, been fundamental to the consolidation of the company”, explains Edoardo Picciolo, “and has allowed RAR to ensure reliability and provide a rapid response to customers’ needs. The decision to seek out new markets was also a crucial one, as it led to the establishment of new sales outlets in the area. In 1997, in fact, the Varese branch project was launched, an experience that opened up new scenarios and boosted purchasing power. Soon came new openings at San Pietro Mosezzo (Novara), Tortona (Alessandria) and, in 2011, the most recent one, the Brescia branch. R.A.R. currently employs 37 people.

When and how did business relations with Roberto Nuti Spa begin?
“Relations stem from the fact that Giuseppe Picciolo had already done business with Roberto Nuti Spa on behalf of the company he worked for before founding RAR. So it would be true to say that the Sabo brand has always been part of our business”.

Which Sabo brand products do you sell?
“Pneumatic suspension units and shock absorbers”.

What, in your opinion, are the strengths of Roberto Nuti Spa?
“There are many… the expansion of the range is certainly a key one, as is easy product traceability and fast delivery”.

How is the North Italy market doing at the moment? Are there signs of recovery from the long crisis that has affected the country?
“There are some signs of recovery, but everything is still overshadowed by the uncertainty that has characterised these last few years, so it’s still going to take some time”.
